Jewelry Care & Instructions

Store in a Clean & Dry Place, or in Sealed Packaging

Laiyen jewelry arrives in a velvet pouch, the Luan Choker arrives in a box. Storing in its original packaging can help prevent exposure to moisture in the air, preventing the chance of your pieces tarnishing. Any tarnishing can be removed with gentle scrubbing with soap and water, the bright silver color will be restored.

Avoid Direct Contact with Chemicals, Lotions or Perfumes

Both metal and gemstones can be damaged if they come into contact with harsh chemicals. And while some products to avoid are obvious (think bleach or chlorine), you should also be cautious with skin care products such as sunscreen, lotion and perfume.

How to Restore Your Jewelry (Tarnishing)

Unfortunately, as time goes on, jewelry can become dull and dirty. But with the right cleaning approach, you can bring back its original shine. Laiyen jewelry is made of stainless steel, sterling silver and silver plated metals, each jewelry pieces product descriptions provide more details on its material structure.

- Stainless steel is highly resistant to tarnishing, corrosion, and rust

- Sterling silver is an alloy of 92.5% pure silver and 7.5% other metals which makes it more durable but also may tarnish overtime. Tarnishing can cause the silver to look duller or create a black/yellow hue. Laiyen jewelry made with sterling silver parts come with a free polishing cloth to help touch up and remove any tarnishing, restoring your piece to its original silver color.

- Silver-plated jewelry may lose its plating over time, resulting in rust or copper look. The layer of silver on the surface reacts with air and moisture, and chemicals from daily wear, causing it to oxidize. Dust, oil, and dirt can also accumulate on the plating, making it look dull or darkened. But with proper care your jewelry can last a long time.  If you incur any issues with plated pieces please contact us and we will do our best to help!

For daily touch ups, its best to use the polishing cloth provided in your package. If you're looking for a less expensive method but more thorough cleaning, a simple solution of warm water and detergent-free dish soap is all you need. Soak your jewelry in the solution and then wipe it with a soft cloth or gentle toothbrush. Then rinse it off in a cup full of clean water and be sure to dry thoroughly.

While this gentle technique works on many jewelry pieces, if you need further help is needed please feel free to contact us
